Sheiks to buy Hyatt on Potsdamer Platz

Al Rayyan Tourism and Investment (Artic) is the investor from the desert state, which has now purchased the Grand Hyatt Hotel at Potsdamer Platz. With the five-star hotel, the first of the 19 buildings of the neighborhood has changed the owner. Originally, the fund company SEB Asset Management was to sell the entire complex, which includes the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden, the Cinemaxx or the Stage Theater located, - but has found no buyers.

The Grand Hyatt is the second hotel in Berlin that has been sold to the investor from Qatar. In the end of December Artic acquired the Maritim Hotel in Stauffenbergstraße. The purchase price for the two properties was not disclosed. However, the Qataris should have been in a good bargaining position.

The Grand Hyatt Berlin hotel is a luxury five stars hotel. It is located in the very centre of Berlin - in Potsdamer Platz. The hotel features a stunning architecture by José Rafael Moneo as well as contemporary art and spectacular interior design.
